1.  Human women have the largest breasts of all the other female mammals.

No other mammal has as prominent and permanent breasts as the human female. In the case of other primates, they develop larger breasts when they are lactating or are fertile. The large size of women’s breasts is not necessary for milk production but is thought to be a result of sexual selection in the species!

2. The average height of Caucasian females is 5 feet 4 inches.

The average height of women of other nationalities largely vary, though. For example, in Bangladesh, the average height is 4 feet 11 inches while in the Dinaric Alps (South Slavs), women’s average height is 5 feet 7 inches.

3. Women have a higher life expectancy than men.

Men are said to have a shorter life expectancy than women (79.5 years vs. 82.5 years in the UK) because more men suffer from cancer. Also, according to Uppsala University researchers, this higher mortality and higher occurrence of cancer has something to do with the loss of Y chromosomes in blood cells.

4. One in five women worldwide are being sexually abused before the age of 15.

One in five women will have become a victim of rape or attempted rape before she turns 15. One of the factors of this high statistic is the common practice of child marriage in many countries across the world, especially in Africa and in South Asia.

5. Women earn, on average, only 77 cents for every $1 men earn.

The specific figures vary, but the sad truth is that the “myth” of pay discrimination really happens. On average, worldwide, women are paid less than men – in fact, the wage gap between the two genders is as high as 22%. This also happens in virtually every kind of industry and occupation.
